Occasionally a member of staff is simply unfamiliar with unenrolled deed polls. If that happens, you are not left to sort it out on your own.

Send us the refusal

Forward us the letter or email from the organisation stating that they will not accept the deed poll, along with your order reference.

We take it up for you

Our UK-based team contacts the organisation directly, explains the legal position of your deed poll and advocates for it to be accepted.

Resolved, or refunded

If it genuinely cannot be resolved and none of the exceptions apply, we refund the full amount you paid us to your original payment method.

Any organisation based outside the UK, or using the deed poll abroad
Banks and building societies (they set their own ID rules — see the note below)
A child name change made without the consent of everyone with parental responsibility
Applications containing false, inaccurate or incomplete information
A deed poll that has not been signed and witnessed as instructed
Names an organisation reasonably refuses, or that break a system’s technical limits

A note on banks and building societies. Banks run their own identity-verification checks and may ask for photo ID or other evidence in your new name before updating your records — that’s their policy, not a problem with your deed poll.
